About Us

I’m June, one of the founders of Du Veldt Interiors, and I am responsible for sourcing all our products. I’ve always had an interest in Interior Design, and have developed a love of African Art. My partner, David and I were so inspired by the standard and diversity of contemporary African design during our trips to Southern African countries that our vision for Du Veldt Interiors was born.

I like to be different, and I love beautiful things that I can’t find on the local High Street. Like most women I love shopping, but I can’t stand the frustration of just not finding something different, and of course the sore feet of trudging around the shops looking for a gift, especially for that difficult to buy for friend (and we all have a least one!).

I find myself shopping more and more online, not only for the sheer indulgence of sitting with my feet up with a glass of wine while I’m doing it, but I can easily search for something unusual and exclusive. Because I do shop online myself, I know what constitutes good customer service, and I believe we all deserve it wherever we shop. Customer feedback is very important to us, and we would love to hear from you, it helps us greatly to source the types of products you want in the future. We want to make your shopping experience with us a pleasure, and we will do our very best to help. Please do feel free to talk to us.

We believe in Fair Trade principles, and our suppliers in Africa employ and support staff from the local communities under ethical working conditions. Many employees support their extended families, and we have visited some of our suppliers’ premises during working hours, and the staff really do enjoy their work. Our business with them helps to support growth of these small African manufacturing companies.

Many of our products are handmade, each piece unique, and because they are not mass-produced, they are exclusive and certainly a bit different. You may never come across anything similar again, particularly with artwork I firmly believe if you love it, buy it or be prepared to wish you had later.
